The Cat With The Eyes Dripping Light. The cat we later came to know as Zsu-Zsu must have absorbed some extra-powerful hashish smoke from the "coffeehouse" he spirits below his apartment that evening.

My heels are still scarred from the wadloopen Death March across the Wadden Sea in July, but as a friend put it "If you can make it thru Netherland mudflats and still want to talk to each other afterwards... figure that jacks up your odds at successfully treading thru mudflats of the heart." Indeed. An eerily beautiful place.

These two lovelies - who tied the knot this summer after 25 years together - have a huge place in my heart. With 6 visits to each other so far this year, I'm thrilled to be living so close to them after living far away far too long.

Held once every 5 years, the Amsterdam Regatta brought hundreds of ships into the city's harbor.

A few more from this city:

January sunset. 4pm.

I just discovered that the artist, Rombout Oomen, of this mural near Museumplein has his studio just across the hall from ours (the kollektief de kas).

A high school teacher in Leidseplein (top). Really.

Looking through a keyhole into one of the city's many hidden courtyards.

A beautiful, brilliant and impish daughter in the middle of a spectacular year of change at the psychedelic Daley Plaza fountains.

Tom Melk at the base of the Brazos Cliffs in northern New Mexico. We go back 30+ years. His cool place near Chama. I love it almost as hugely as I do him.

From around Europe:

Another scalar extreme. Olya and her mother as diminutives before the table gods.

Ann laughing at yet another failed attempt by her younger brother to off her. She's tough.

Alien life forms. Bretagne.
